A new BBC documentary, Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret, presents allegations from four women that the actor and musician engaged in decades of sexual misconduct against teenage girls, including sexual assault, grooming and statutory rape. The claims are corroborated by anonymous male former co-workers who say they witnessed a system Leto allegedly used to procure underage fans from his concerts, and the film's release on both the BBC and YouTube is intended to maximise its impact after years of similar allegations being ignored.

The Guardian's review notes this is far from the first attempt to scrutinise Leto's behaviour: New York Post gossip columns raised concerns as early as 2005, other celebrities joked about the rumours online by 2018, and a 2024 Air Mail investigation saw nine women make comparable claims, which Leto's representatives denied at the time. The women in the new documentary, now in their 20s, 30s and 40s, describe experiences from when they were underage, and the reviewer praises their bravery in appearing on camera, arguing the film's weight and reach make the allegations harder for the industry to dismiss than previous reports.
