One of Steam’s Biggest New RPGs Is Officially Getting a PS5 Version

Push Square · 4 hours ago

The Korean RPG DragonSword: Awakening, which has become a surprise hit on Steam, is officially heading to PS5 according to a report from Japanese outlet GameSpark. The anime-inspired open-world title stands out for shunning the microtransactions and gacha mechanics common in similar live-service games, instead releasing as a single, full-price purchase with everything unlockable through play. This decision has been credited with much of its success and marks a notable departure from the norm for Korean-developed games in the genre.

Developed by Hound13 using Unreal Engine 5, the game has sold more than 200,000 copies since launching roughly a week ago, peaking at over 23,000 concurrent players on Steam and maintaining almost 90% positive reviews. Although visually reminiscent of titles like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves, it distinguishes itself by avoiding hidden costs and time-limited events. No release date or timeframe has been given for the PS5 version, with the port believed to still be in early development.
