Iran launched ballistic missiles towards a US military base in Jordan, ending a short pause in fighting that had been intended to allow diplomacy. US Central Command said every missile was intercepted, but the incident increased the risk of renewed wider conflict and prompted President Trump to threaten a strong response.

The missiles were reportedly aimed at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, a key US regional hub; Jordan said five projectiles were shot down. The attack followed 13 consecutive nights of US strikes on Iran, and came after an earlier Iranian missile and drone barrage in Jordan this month killed two US service members. US and Saudi aircraft subsequently struck logistics and weapons sites used by Iran-backed militias in eastern Iraq.
