The Beatles' 1965 album Rubber Soul is being reissued in an expanded special edition, with UMG and Apple Corps Ltd confirming new stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes produced by Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell. The reissue is notable for including a previously unheard John Lennon song, "Little Girl", unearthed by his son Sean Ono Lennon from the Lennon Estate archives, alongside dozens of unreleased session recordings that give fresh insight into the making of one of the band's most influential records.

The new mixes were drawn directly from the original four-track master tapes using de-mixing technology developed by Peter Jackson's WingNut Films sound team. Editions range from standard 1CD/1LP releases to 4CD and 5LP Super Deluxe sets featuring 24 early session recordings, including 20 unreleased takes and three unreleased home demos, plus an 88-page book with a new introduction by Paul McCartney and a foreword drawn from Lennon's own words. The full collection, including the original mono mix, arrives on 2 October, with "Michelle (Take 1)" already released as a preview and pre-orders now open.
