Uefa has confirmed that its proposed boycott of Fifa competitions would begin with next year’s Women’s World Cup, escalating its unanimous opposition to plans reportedly involving US private investment in World Cup stakes. The threat significantly increases pressure on Fifa president Gianni Infantino to withdraw or substantially alter the proposals, and could undermine his expected re-election next March.

All 55 Uefa member associations backed the stance 55–0 after an emergency meeting lasting nearly two hours, with England’s FA among those supporting it. Uefa says European teams will stay out of Fifa events until the plan is fully abandoned and Fifa gives binding assurances against private ownership; it has urged other confederations to join, while Concacaf is due to discuss its response.
