The Last of Us Part 2 multiplayer mod finishing what Naughty Dog started now supports 4v4 matches after “big milestone” update
A fan-made multiplayer mod for The Last of Us Part 2 on PC can now support full 4v4 matches, a development milestone that moves it closer to recreating an online mode absent from the official sequel. The progress matters to fans because Naughty Dog cancelled its standalone The Last of Us Online project, leaving no official multiplayer follow-up to the original game’s Factions mode.
Modder Speclizer said the project had previously been limited to 1v1 games and is targeting a September 2026 release. Development began earlier this year, and the mod is intended to provide player-versus-player matches; it remains unofficial and separate from Naughty Dog and Sony.
