Wales won gold in the women’s team sprint at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, beating England in the final at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. The result improves on the bronze medal won by the same Welsh trio at the Birmingham 2022 Games and contributes to Team Wales’ early medal total.

Emma Finucane, Rhian Edmunds and Lowri Thomas recorded a new Commonwealth Games record of 46.760 seconds, having also been fastest in qualifying. It was Wales’ third track-cycling medal on the opening night, alongside silver for para-cyclist James Ball and guide Matt Rotherham, and bronze in the women’s team pursuit; Trinidad and Tobago received men’s team sprint bronze after Wales withdrew.
