20th Century Studios’ adaptation of Emily Henry’s romance novel Beach Read has completed filming and is scheduled for a cinema release on 7 May 2027. The film is one of several screen adaptations of Henry’s books, and its progress matters to fans because the central characters have now been cast and production has moved swiftly from filming to post-production.

Phoebe Dynevor will play romance writer January Andrews, opposite Patrick Schwarzenegger as author Augustus “Gus” Everett; the supporting cast includes Kevin Bacon, Andie MacDowell, Kristin Davis and Tig Notaro. Directed by Yulin Kuang, filming began on 8 June 2026 and wrapped on 30 July, while the story follows January and Gus, former university rivals, as they swap writing genres during a summer on Lake Michigan while confronting grief, creative blocks and an unexpected romance.
