The Smashing Pumpkins used a Chicago pre-Lollapalooza concert to stage two guest appearances, reuniting with former bassist Melissa Auf der Maur and performing with actor Barry Williams of The Brady Bunch. The show was notable for its unusual setlist and collaborations ahead of the band’s first Lollapalooza appearance in 32 years.

At the Riviera Theatre on 29 July, the band played several rarities, including ‘Dorian’ for the first time since 2015, ‘Thirty-Three’ since 2018, and the live debut of ‘War Dreams of Itself’. Williams joined Billy Corgan for ‘It’s a Sunshine Day’, while Auf der Maur returned for closing song ‘The Everlasting Gaze’, following their first reunion performance since 2000 in Montreal last year.
