Buffalo Traffic Jam Were Just Two Dudes in Montana. Now They’re Headliners

Rolling Stone · 4 hours ago

Montana folk duo Buffalo Traffic Jam are releasing their debut album, *Pictures of You*, after rapidly building a national audience through streaming, social media and increasingly popular live shows. Their rise illustrates how independent-minded artists can now turn online momentum into a touring career, even as parts of the live music market face weak ticket sales and cancellations.

The 14-track album, released by Arista Records, was shaped by Frankie Cassidy’s grief after his grandmother’s death and uses photographs as a theme for memory and perseverance. Their breakthrough song “Fool’s Gold”, released in October 2025, became their most-streamed track and a concert highlight; the band grew from a 250-capacity Mercury Lounge show in New York last March to two sold-out, 1,025-capacity Irving Plaza dates roughly six months later.
