Dungeons & Dragons 2027 Roadmap Features Mature-Rated Expansion That Comes Shrink-Wrapped With a Warning For Its Violence, Sex and Nudity

IGN · 20 hours ago

Wizards of the Coast has revealed a 2026–27 Dungeons & Dragons roadmap featuring a mature-rated return to the Dark Sun setting. The Dark Sun releases will be shrink-wrapped and carry warnings for depictions of violence, bloodshed, nudity and sexuality, reflecting the setting’s deliberately brutal tone and marking a more adult-focused approach for the tabletop game.

The roadmap begins with Arcana Unleashed, adding eight subclasses, 10 backgrounds, 29 feats, 33 spells and other magic-focused content, followed by the level 11–20 Thay espionage campaign Deadfall. In 2027, the Season of Survival will include Dark Sun’s Blood and Power gameplay expansion and Edge of Oblivion setting expansion with the Psion class; later seasons will revisit Greyhawk and introduce further projects from prominent D&D creators.

  • D&D’s Dark Sun returns in 2027 with mature-content warnings.
  • The expansion will be shrink-wrapped to limit minors’ access.
  • The wider roadmap adds magic, Thay and Greyhawk content.
