England have matched their best-ever Commonwealth Games boxing performance by sending seven fighters into Saturday’s finals in Glasgow. The result guarantees a strong medal return and leaves the team with a chance to surpass its record of six boxing gold medals at one Games.

Ruby White, 19, reached her first Commonwealth final after stopping Mischa Araes in the second round for her 68th straight senior victory. Chantelle Reid, Sacha Hickey, Isaac Okoh, Patris Mughalzai, Dimeji Shittu and Damar Thomas also made the finals, while three other English semi-finalists will receive bronze medals; England had 10 boxers in the semi-finals, matching its 1986 medal-tally record.
