In Canada: Angine de Poitrine, PUP & More Make SOCAN Polaris Song Prize Short List
– SOCAN Polaris Song Prize has announced a five-song shortlist, with the winner to receive $10,000 at a Massey Hall ceremony on 22 September.
– The nominees are Angine de Poitrine, Charlotte Cornfield, PUP, Patrick Watson and Martha Wainwright, and Charlotte Day Wilson featuring Saya Gray.
– SOCAN is also acquiring the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency, bringing performance and mechanical royalty distribution under one organisation.
- Five Canadian songs are shortlisted for SOCAN’s $10,000 Polaris prize.
- The winner will be announced on 22 September.
- SOCAN plans to acquire rights agency CMRRA.
