Acclaimed Welsh artist Kevin Sinnott dies aged 78
Welsh contemporary artist Kevin Sinnott has died aged 78. Best known for his painting *Running Away with the Hairdresser*, he was regarded as one of Wales’s leading painters, and his death marks the loss of an artist whose vivid work brought everyday Welsh life to an international audience.
Born in Sarn, Bridgend county, to Irish parents, Sinnott trained at London’s Royal College of Art and achieved major success during the 1980s. His work is held by institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the British Museum and Amgueddfa Cymru, while a planned September exhibition at Cardiff’s Celf Gallery will proceed as a tribute; he is survived by four children and 11 grandchildren.
