Halo: Campaign Evolved includes a post-credits-style secret scene for players who complete the full campaign on Legendary difficulty. It matters because the scene confirms Sgt. Johnson’s survival in a humorous way and strongly hints at a future remake of Halo 2, although no such project has been officially announced.

The standard ending, available on any difficulty after the original ten missions, has Master Chief and Cortana escape as the Pillar of Autumn destroys Halo, repeating dialogue from the 2001 game. The Legendary scene shows Johnson watching the original non-canon secret ending before leaving in a Pelican and saying, “See you in the sequel”; both endings also show 343 Guilty Spark surviving in space.
