The US State Department has raised its travel advisory for the Spanish enclave of Ceuta to Level 3, "Reconsider Travel", after tens of thousands of migrants crossed into the North African territory from Morocco. The surge prompted Spain to deploy its military to the border area, reflecting the scale of the emergency and the strain it has placed on Spanish and wider European border security arrangements.

The advisory cited the "massive and uncontrolled arrival of migrants" as a source of unpredictable risk for travellers. Spanish authorities reported at least 18 deaths linked to the crossing attempts, while Spain's prime minister described the surge as an "attack" on the country. The crisis has also had diplomatic repercussions, with Italy reinstating border checks with Spain and tensions flaring between Madrid and Rome over the response.
