Bournemouth close in on £11.1m Juanlu

BBC Sport ·

Bournemouth are finalising an £11.1m deal for Sevilla right-back Juanlu as manager Marco Rose continues to strengthen his squad for the club's first-ever Europa League campaign. The 22-year-old, an attacking full-back with extensive Spanish youth international experience, is expected to sign a long-term contract on the south coast, marking the Cherries' third significant summer signing.

The transfer comprises an initial £9.4m fee plus £1.7m in potential add-ons, following earlier arrivals of defender Antonio Silva from Benfica (£26.6m) and striker Alvaro Rodriguez from Elche (£25.7m). Rose is now focused on recruiting a backup goalkeeper to challenge Djordje Petrovic, while Sevilla have expressed interest in signing Bournemouth striker Enes Unal, who also has offers from Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Key players Eli Junior Kroupi, Rayan and Alex Scott are said to be unavailable for transfer this summer.

Bournemouth, nicknamed the Cherries, are an English football club based on the south coast. A right-back is a defender who usually plays on the right side and can also support attacks; Juanlu is a young Spanish player who has represented Spain at youth level.

Manager Marco Rose is preparing Bournemouth for their first campaign in the Europa League, a competition for clubs from across Europe. Clubs often strengthen their squads ahead of a new competition, and transfers can involve a fixed fee plus extra payments if agreed conditions are met.
