US Representative Marcy Kaptur was taken to hospital after the vehicle in which she was travelling was involved in a hit-and-run crash in the Toledo area. The incident prompted a police investigation and drew attention because Kaptur is a long-serving Democratic congresswoman representing Ohio.

Police said the crash occurred at about 10:48am near North Detroit and Central avenues, and two people were taken to a nearby hospital. Kaptur, 80, was reportedly travelling to a church service; her office said she was alert and had sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
