Director Gregg Araki has discussed how he used AI-powered post-production tools while making his new film I Want Your Sex, despite describing himself as sceptical of AI more broadly. Speaking to Deadline about the erotic comedy thriller, his first film in over a decade, Araki explained that modern software allowed him to clean up sound and visuals in ways that were previously impossible, making advanced filmmaking techniques far more accessible to low-budget, independent productions.

He specifically cited a dialogue scene shot with Cooper Hoffman and Chase Sui Wonders on a mini golf course beside a busy freeway, saying AI tools removed the traffic noise so effectively that "you can hear crickets" in the final mix, calling the result "literally insane." Araki stressed he does not support AI replacing actors or writers, but sees its use in post-production editing and effects as a positive, democratising shift for independent cinema. He also spoke more broadly about his optimism for the future of Hollywood, suggesting the industry's traditional formulas are breaking down as it undergoes major upheaval.
