Celtic have been drawn against Austrian champions LASK in the Champions League play-off round, with the winner securing a place in the lucrative league phase of the competition. The tie is a tough draw for Martin O'Neill's side, as LASK – who won their first Austrian title since 1965 last season – avoided the other Scottish champions to face what is considered one of the toughest possible opponents in the pool.

Celtic will host the first leg on 18 or 19 August, with the return fixture in Austria the following week. The Scottish champions could otherwise have faced Viking Stavanger, Celje, Ararat-Armenia, Kairat Almaty, Levski Sofia, AGF Aarhus or Sabah; although LASK have a lower Uefa coefficient than Celje, Austria's league is ranked considerably higher than Slovenia's. Separately, Uefa also confirmed the groupings that will determine possible opponents for Rangers, Hearts, Hibernian and Motherwell in the Europa League and Conference League play-off draws, held later on the same Monday.
