Three people were killed and seven others injured in a shooting at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho. The suspected gunman also died, and Idaho’s Republican senator described the state as “heartbroken”, reflecting the scale of shock following the attack.

Police said the shooting took place on Saturday afternoon at the recently opened restaurant, in a city of about 56,000 people. Investigators identified the suspect as 24-year-old Chad Williams and said they believed he acted alone; his motive remained under investigation. Authorities said two injured people had been released from hospital, three were stable and two were in critical condition.
