Boy George has fired Tony Pontius, the longtime manager of his independent label BGP (Boy George Presents), after Pontius refused to distribute the singer's new AI-assisted track "We Will Dance Again," which expresses pro-Israel views on the 7 October 2023 Hamas-led attack. The 65-year-old Culture Club frontman framed the split as a consequence of standing by his "Jewish friends," and the fallout has already affected other parts of his career, most notably his exit from the London revival of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Posting on X, George said Pontius had been "unequivocal" that he wanted nothing to do with the song, prompting George to end their professional relationship. The track, which shares its title with a documentary about the Nova music festival massacre, contains lyrics referencing the atrocities of 7 October and has drawn controversy for lines contesting the term "genocide." It was released on X, Instagram, Threads and Bandcamp, but has not appeared on major streaming platforms, and George has said he plans to rerecord it himself. His manager, Paul Kemsley, separately confirmed George's withdrawal from playing King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar at the London Palladium, citing respect for the production without directly blaming the song.
