Street Fighter 6's fourth-year content cycle has begun on PS5 with the release of new playable character Yasmine, the franchise's first Filipino fighter. She launches alongside a set of competitive balance changes intended to shake up the game's ranked and tournament scenes, though Push Square's editor notes the update feels lower-key than previous seasons, partly because it lacks accompanying World Tour story content.

Yasmine is the opening character in the Year 4 Character Pass, which will later add further fighters including Final Fantasy's Tifa. Unlike prior additions, players' custom avatar characters can learn Yasmine's moveset through the new Avatar Battle mode rather than the World Tour campaign, since she does not appear in that mode. The muted reception is attributed partly to her following the previously anticipated character Ingrid, and partly to competing attention from the newly released Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
