‘Jadon was not on trial with the club’ – Flixton dismiss Sancho talk

BBC Sport ·

Non-league club Flixton FC have issued a statement denying transfer speculation after former England winger Jadon Sancho was spotted training at their North West Counties ground. The rumours spread on social media after Sancho, released by Manchester United in June, used the club's facilities, but Flixton clarified he was merely maintaining his fitness ahead of finding his next club rather than being on trial or in transfer talks.

Sancho, 26, cost United £73m when he joined in 2021 but fell out with then-manager Erik ten Hag, going on loan to Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa before his contract expired this summer. Flixton praised him as "professional, humble and generous with his time", noting he met young fans, signed autographs and posed for photos after his session, while manager Alex Mortimer shared a video of Sancho complimenting the club's pitch.

Jadon Sancho is an England winger who joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021. After a disagreement with United manager Erik ten Hag, he spent time on loan at Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa before leaving United when his contract expired.

Flixton FC is a non-league club in north-west England. Its training ground was used by Sancho to keep fit while he looks for his next club; using the facilities does not itself mean a player is on trial or negotiating a move. Fans and clubs have been watching to see where Sancho will play next.
