Amazon MGM Studios, Blur Studios and Games Workshop are developing a new Warhammer 40,000 animated series centred on the Deathwatch, an elite Space Marine unit that hunts alien threats. Henry Cavill, who is also fronting Amazon's separate live-action Warhammer television project written by Mike Flanagan, serves as an executive producer on the animated show, which builds on the strong fan response to "And They Shall Know No Fear," a Space Marine episode from Amazon's anthology series Secret Level.

Dave Wilson, who directed that episode, returns as co-creator and director alongside screenwriter John Orloff (Master of the Air, Band of Brothers), with Blur Studios again handling animation; the series is expected to continue the story of Lieutenant Titus and his squad. Additional executive producers include Secret Level creator Tim Miller, Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment, Games Workshop's Andy Smillie, and Natalie Viscuso. The announcement reflects a broader expansion of Warhammer 40,000 into television, film and gaming, with titles such as Space Marine 3, Dawn of War 4, Boltgun 2, a new Total War instalment and a Helldivers 2 crossover all in the works nearly 40 years after the franchise began.

Amazon MGM Studios, together with animation house Blur Studios and games company Games Workshop, is developing an animated series set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, with actor Henry Cavill among the executive producers. The show builds on a single episode called "And They Shall Know No Fear," which appeared in Amazon's anthology series Secret Level and focused on the Space Marines, elite genetically enhanced soldiers from the franchise. Warhammer 40,000 is a long-running science fiction setting originally created for tabletop war games, now spanning books, video games and other media.

The new series will centre on the Deathwatch, a specialist unit within the Space Marines tasked with hunting alien threats, and is expected to pick up the story of characters introduced in the earlier episode. It sits alongside a separate live-action Warhammer TV project that Cavill is also involved with, and forms part of a broader push by Games Workshop to expand the franchise across screens and games as it approaches its 40th anniversary.

The project matters because it reflects growing studio interest in adapting established game and tabletop properties for television, and because Warhammer 40,000 has a large, dedicated fan base whose reaction can shape how such adaptations are made and received.
