Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Jarvis Thornton has signed a new two-year contract with the club, committing his future to the Owls as they prepare for life in League One following relegation. The 20-year-old, who has been at the club since he was eight, made his first-team debut in the EFL Cup last August before establishing himself in the side during a turbulent Championship campaign.

Thornton went on to make 27 appearances in total last season, including eight Championship starts, gaining valuable senior experience despite the team's struggles. Reflecting on the campaign, he said playing at Championship level had made him "10 times a better player" and accelerated his development as a professional, adding that he hopes to build on that progress and contribute positively to the club in the coming season.
