Bad Seeds mark Wild God tour with historic Brighton homecoming show

Nick Cave has responded to news that his band's Preston Park show in Brighton was "the largest ticketed event in Brighton's history", offering fresh praise for surprise guest Kylie Minogue. Writing on his Red Hand Files website, Cave described Minogue as "a performer who only gives, gives and gives, then retreats, as ghosts and great performers do", after she joined the Bad Seeds on 31 July 2026 for an emotional rendition of 'Where The Wild Roses Grow'.
The gig, a UK-exclusive set marking the band's acclaimed 2024 album 'Wild God', drew more than 50,000 fans and was preceded by a surprise stripped-back performance on the roof of Brighton's Resident Records earlier that day. Cave called it a "homecoming" and praised the band for playing with "the same ferocious intention" at both shows, adding that Minogue's dress was made by his wife, fashion designer Susie. Support acts included The Flaming Lips, English Teacher, Cate Le Bon and Warmduscher, and the band have hinted a follow-up to 'Wild God' could be in the works as their tour continues through European festivals.

Nick Cave is the frontman of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, a band known for dark, intense rock music, and he has been putting out records and touring with them for decades. In 2024 they released the album "Wild God", which was well received, and they have been touring it since. Cave also writes a regular newsletter called the Red Hand Files, where he answers questions from fans and shares his thoughts.
Kylie Minogue is an Australian singer who has had a long career in pop music. In 1995 she and Cave recorded "Where The Wild Roses Grow" together, a song that became one of the best-known moments in both their careers, so any live reunion of the pair performing it draws particular attention from fans of both artists.
The event in question took place on Preston Park in Brighton, a city on England's south coast, and was part of the band's UK tour dates. Large outdoor concerts of this kind are often notable for how many tickets they sell and for the other acts who perform alongside the headliners, which is why the scale of the show and its supporting line-up have been part of the story.
