Sony has confirmed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will receive an IMAX release after initially appearing to miss out on the format because Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey had secured IMAX screens. The change matters because it gives the next Tom Holland Spider-Man film access to premium large-format cinemas, which can boost both audience interest and box-office takings.

The film is due to arrive in cinemas on 31 July 2026, with IMAX screenings now expected shortly afterwards. The Odyssey is scheduled for release earlier that month, on 17 July 2026, and its exclusive IMAX window had limited Spider-Man’s initial availability; the revised arrangement indicates the two major releases will now share the format over time.
