Rick Rozz, former guitarist for Death and Massacre, has said he holds no regrets about not playing on Death's 1987 debut album "Scream Bloody Gore", despite having been fired from the band a couple of years before it was recorded. Speaking to Poland's Noise Magazine, Rozz reflected on his history with Death mastermind Chuck Schuldiner, saying that "what was meant to be was meant to be" and that he retains respect for everyone he played and recorded with, even though his time in the band amounted to only "a little moment" in his life.

The interview centred on Rozz's new band, Left to Die, formed with fellow Death/Massacre veteran Terry Butler (also of Obituary) and Gruesome founders Matt Harvey (Exhumed) and Gus Rios (ex-Malevolent Creation). The group released its debut album, "Initium Mortis", on 17 July via Relapse Records, featuring re-recorded versions of early Death and Mantas material. Rozz also downplayed the idea that Left to Die serves as a "gateway" for fans who missed the original old-school death metal era, and recalled his later stint with Death on the "Scream Bloody Gore" tour and the "Leprosy" album as a positive team effort.
