Overwatch’s next hero is officially confirmed, and she’s been teased in the lore for years

Destructoid · 3 hours ago

Blizzard Entertainment has officially confirmed that Overwatch's next playable hero will be D.Mon, a South Korean mech pilot and comrade of the existing hero D.Va. The character has appeared in the game's lore for years, notably in the "Shooting Star" animated short and the Overwatch: New Blood comic, and her introduction fills a long-teased gap in the roster's story, with fans widely expecting her to fill a tank role given her mech-based fighting style.

D.Mon's real name is Yuna Lee, and she pilots a large red mech nicknamed Beast, which concept art suggests wields a hard-light melee weapon and shield. She is a member of the MEKA Squad (Mobile Exo-Force of the Korean Army), the same unit as D.Va, known for defending South Korea from giant Omnic threats called Gwishin. Blizzard released a teaser trailer showing her battling Wrecking Ball, and her full reveal is scheduled for 6 August, ahead of her arrival alongside map reworks to Eichenwalde, Paraiso and Busan when Overwatch's new season begins on 11 August.
