How Top Hollywood Companies Toasted Next Generation on National Intern Day (Sans Alcohol)

The Hollywood Reporter · 4 hours ago

Fifth Season, the film and TV production and distribution studio, hosted its second annual "Interntainment Night" on 30 July 2026, bringing together around 300 interns from 50 major Hollywood companies for a networking event timed to coincide with National Intern Day. Held on the terrace of the studio's Lumen headquarters in West Los Angeles, the gathering aimed to encourage "lateral" networking among peers, rather than the usual top-down mentoring, giving young industry newcomers a chance to build connections with each other as many summer internships drew to a close.

The event marked significant growth from its inaugural year, which drew just 75 interns from six companies. This year's partners and participants included Penske Media Corporation (owner of The Hollywood Reporter), Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon MGM Studios, Sony, Paramount, NBCUniversal, WME, UTA and dozens of others. Activities were deliberately designed to be screen-free, including a photo booth, DJ music, Jackbox Games, cornhole, bracelet-making and pub trivia, with Fifth Season's chief human resources officer Tasmin Plater explaining that this year's format was tailored to encourage genuine conversation over phone-based networking.

  • Fifth Season hosted 300 interns from 50 firms at networking night.
  • Event marks National Intern Day, grew sharply from last year's 75 attendees.
  • Activities were deliberately screen-free to encourage face-to-face networking.
