Final Fantasy VII Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that the base game will fully conclude the story of the remake trilogy, addressing fan concerns that potential downloadable content signalled the main game might end on a cliffhanger. Speaking in a promotional interview, Hamaguchi stressed that the development team is committed to wrapping up the series with Revelation, and any DLC would not be needed to complete the narrative.

Instead, Hamaguchi said any future DLC would likely take the form of a character-focused spin-off exploring "untold stories," similar to the Yuffie-centred Episode Intermission released alongside Final Fantasy VII Remake. He added that no concrete plans exist yet, with decisions on further content depending on player demand and reviews after launch. Final Fantasy VII Revelation is currently due for release in spring 2027 on Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series S|X and PC.
