In a statement to Fox News Digital, Brewer, who has personal ties to Minnesota through his university years and family, called Reeve's actions "disgusting" and said the coach was promoting harmful ideas to young fans. He also noted that three other WNBA coaches – Natalie Nakase, Stephanie White and Alex Sarama – had faced scrutiny in the past week for declining to back protecting women's sports, while Seattle Storm co-owner Celeste Keaton was separately suspended and fined over an incident involving young Cunningham supporters. Brewer further accused the league of failing to adequately champion Caitlin Clark despite her commercial impact on the sport.
