Mudryk could return on Wednesday after drugs suspension

BBC Sport · 5 hours ago

Chelsea forward Mykhailo Mudryk could make his first appearance in 20 months on Wednesday after being named in the squad for a pre-season friendly against Juventus in Hong Kong. The Ukraine international has been out since a provisional suspension in November 2024 following an "adverse finding" for the banned substance meldonium, but he was cleared to resume playing last week after resolving his case with the Football Association.

New Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso said the 25-year-old could feature but was unlikely to play a full 90 minutes given how long he has been sidelined. Mudryk trained with the squad on Monday after flying directly from the airport, with the session focused on reintegrating him emotionally with teammates before assessing his fitness levels ahead of a possible return to competitive action.
