Fontaines D.C. performed their first show since the unexpected death of their manager, Trevor Dietz, recording the final ever BBC live session at the iconic Maida Vale Studios in London. The session, recorded on 31 July and broadcast on BBC 6 Music on 3 August 2026, closes a chapter that has hosted decades of legendary sessions from artists including David Bowie, Nirvana and Oasis, as the BBC prepares to relocate to a new studio at Olympic Park in east London.

The Irish band chose not to play new material, instead performing tender tracks including "Favourite", "It's Amazing to Be Young", "Big Shot", "Bug" and the early song "Roy's Tune", which hadn't featured in a setlist since 2024, in tribute to Dietz. The band had announced Dietz's passing in June, describing him as "the sixth member of the band", with tributes also paid by Kneecap, Annie Mac and Baxter Dury. BBC 6 Music's Steve Lamacq introduced the emotional broadcast by reflecting on his decades-long history with the studio, calling it a "final goodbye to a landmark of the British music scene".
