Nintendo is holding a livestream today to reveal further details about Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, the next major entry in its long-running strategy RPG series, ahead of the game's release on 17 September. The broadcast gives fans a chance to learn more about the story, characters and gameplay before launch, with Nintendo confirming it will run for roughly 20 minutes.

The Nintendo Direct begins at 10am ET/7am PT on YouTube. Fortune's Weave is set in Dagsion, capital of the Dagdan Empire, and follows on from the events of Genealogy of the Holy War, centring on four characters — Cai, Dietrich, Theodora and Leda — competing in the Heroic Games for the chance to win a wish. Recent trailers have also teased an aged-up Sothis and the Hero's Relics, referencing Three Houses and Three Hopes, alongside a demon army and a new figure called Eshmel, Herald of the Pale Raven; as in previous instalments, players will be able to recruit and train allies between matches or explore the surrounding regions.
