The Toronto Film Festival has unveiled 54 new titles for its Centerpiece programme, a strand dedicated to global and auteur-driven cinema, expanding the 2026 line-up with a mix of star-led comedies, thrillers and international premieres. The addition brings high-profile talent to the festival, including Zooey Deschanel, Michelle Yeoh, Simon Rex, Ed Helms and Barry Keoghan, alongside films from acclaimed directors such as Daniel Oriahi, Marie Clements and David Bezmozgis, reinforcing Toronto's role as a launchpad for both mainstream and independent world cinema.

Among the highlights are Kris Rey's comedy Trash Mountain, starring Deschanel and Jacki Weaver; Simon Rex's comedy thriller God Bless You, Mr Kopu; the Barry Keoghan-led Irish drama Lemonade; Michelle Yeoh's action film The Surgeon; and Cody Lightning's sports feature Smudge the Blades, featuring Ed Helms. The programme also spans world premieres from diverse voices, including Marie Clement's How We Stand, Thai horror director Banjong Pisanthanakun's Inherit, Karthik Subbaraj's Tamil-language Dorothy, and films addressing subjects from Gaza to Israel's October 7 tragedy, underlining the festival's continued focus on international storytelling.
