Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave adds surprise new weapon: guns!

Polygon · 4 hours ago

Nintendo's latest Direct dedicated to Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave revealed that players will be able to equip characters with firearms, a first for the long-running tactical role-playing series. The reveal came during a segment showcasing the game's weapon variety, alongside traditional options such as swords, spears, axes, bows and magic, marking a notable departure for a franchise historically rooted in medieval-style combat.

The gun, referred to as a "Salamander," is classed as a gauntlet-type weapon and appears as a pistol firing energy blasts, demonstrated by a character called Anatolia defeating an opponent in a single shot. It remains unclear whether further firearms exist within the game. The same Direct also confirmed an Elephant Rider class, letting characters mount elephants alongside existing options like dragons and winged horses. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is due for release exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on 17 September.
