An indie developer working on the fighting game Generic Fighter Maybe has come up with a comedic alternative to standard disconnect screens for players who rage quit mid-match. Rage quitting, where a losing player abruptly abandons an online match, is a persistent frustration in competitive gaming, and most existing solutions towards punishing it lean into violence rather than humour, so this lighter-hearted take has drawn a positive response.

In the clip shared on social media by developer Khao Mortadios of Astrobard Games, a player about to lose a lengthy combo instead has their character run towards a window with a goofy grin and leap through the glass, followed by a message reading "your opponent has left the game". This contrasts with examples such as the Mortal Kombat series, where rage quits trigger a character's head exploding. The developer said they were looking for ways to "soften the blow" of sudden disconnects, a problem highlighted recently when the Invincible Vs beta was hit by rage quitters even in matches where results didn't count.
