Lil Tecca talks headlining ‘Fortnite Festival’ and making ‘GTA’-inspired rap
Rapper Lil Tecca has been announced as the headline act for season 15 of Fortnite Festival, the game's rhythm-based spin-off, following in the footsteps of previous headliners including Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter and Laufey. He described the collaboration as a "full-circle" moment, having got his start as a nine-year-old trading raps with friends over Xbox Live and later seeing fans use his music in Fortnite montage videos as his career took off.
As part of the tie-in, four of his tracks — 'Dark Thoughts', 'Ransom', 'Love Me' and '500lbs' — have been added as playable jam tracks, alongside Lil Tecca-themed skins, items and weapons, giving him exposure to Fortnite's more than 20 million daily players. In the interview, he also discussed his love of playing solo zero build, and reflected on staying grounded and avoiding ego as his popularity grows, referencing his 2025 album 'Dopamine', which drew inspiration from the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City soundtrack.
