Flowers, who cited his working-class father's contentment as a contrast to his own uncertainty about fame and fortune, said he still finds himself falling ill after every tour, yet draws comparison to Mick Jagger's enduring drive to perform. Thrasher, his first solo record in over a decade, was made in Nashville with producers Shawn Everett and Johnathan Rado and takes on a country-western sound inspired by his Mormon upbringing in Nephi, Utah. The ten-track album, which Flowers describes as "life songs, not love songs," draws on family stories, including tracks about his sisters and a missionary brother-in-law, reflecting his continued devotion to his faith and roots.
