Spider-Man: Brand New Day Reportedly Cut a Scene With a Fan-Favorite Daredevil Character And It Might’ve Fixed a Plot Hole

IGN · 6 hours ago

Spider-Man: Brand New Day reportedly had a deleted scene featuring Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple that could have resolved a fan-noticed inconsistency in the film. In the finished cut, Peter Parker is shown unmasked in hospital after being shot while protecting Jean Grey, raising questions about strangers learning his secret identity, but the cut footage apparently addressed this by having doctors leave his mask on.

According to a claim from X user @JuanEditz, who has previously leaked accurate details about the film's marketing, doctors would have cut Peter out of his suit while keeping his mask on, after which he would have briefly interacted with Claire Temple in a hospital corridor. Claire, familiar with protecting secret identities from her history patching up Daredevil, was reportedly a good fit for the moment, though it remains unclear whether she will appear in future Marvel projects such as Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. The omission has not harmed the film's reception, as Brand New Day has recorded the biggest domestic opening in history, is tracking towards more than $2 billion at the box office, and ranks among the best-reviewed Marvel films to date.

  • Deleted scene reportedly had Claire Temple protect Spider-Man's secret identity
  • Cut footage may have explained why Peter stayed masked in hospital
  • Brand New Day is a box office and critical smash regardless
