Activation requires solving the Blue Tower Puzzle, one of three tower puzzles in the game, which involves finding and completing five separate sub-puzzles scattered around the surrounding area.

Each of the five puzzles rewards players with a gold-shaped collectible, which must be placed in empty slots on the roof of the Blue Tower to unlock a key. Players then use five blue-coloured machines near the tower to shape that key into a usable form, restoring the train network. Once active, players can check station schedules and board trains, which offer tools for communicating with other players and, while not especially fast, provide a convenient way to travel across the map.
