British boxer Raven Chapman, 32, was airlifted to hospital and placed in a medically induced coma after suffering a brain bleed following a sparring session in Denmark on 24 July. The former world title challenger collapsed after training and was diagnosed with a brain haematoma and cerebral oedema, prompting emergency surgery to stop the bleeding and reduce swelling. Her condition has raised fresh concern about safety in sparring within professional boxing.

Chapman's management company, Vote Boxing, said she has since been taken off sedatives and remains in hospital in Denmark, where her family is with her, while awaiting medically supervised repatriation to the UK for what is expected to be a lengthy rehabilitation. The Norwich-born fighter, who turned professional in 2021, has a 10-2 record and challenged Skye Nicolson for the WBC featherweight title in October 2024. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support her, and tributes have come from across the boxing world, including former promoter Frank Warren.
