Diablo 4 players have long wanted to bring their Eternal characters into the Seasonal realm, and now they’re getting their wish, sort of

Blizzard is adding a long-requested feature called Rebirth to Diablo 4, allowing players to convert their Eternal realm characters into Seasonal characters instead of building a new one from scratch each season. The change addresses a persistent frustration for players, since Diablo 4 uniquely separates its permanent Eternal realm from its live-service Seasonal content, meaning Seasonal progress has always required starting fresh. However, the fix comes with a significant trade-off: converted characters are reset to level one and lose most of their accumulated power and gear.

Only a limited set of elements carry over via Rebirth, including class, name, appearance, Normal or Hardcore status, playtime, and cosmetic items such as transmogs, pigments, mounts, pets and portals. Players must clear their gear into the Eternal stash beforehand, as the game blocks Rebirth while items remain equipped or in inventory, with an on-screen warning before conversion. The feature is currently on the Public Test Realm as part of patch 3.2.0, a deliberately lighter preview ahead of Season 15, which begins on 15th September following a fuller reveal at BlizzCon in early September.
