Transfer roundup: Coventry to make Yirenkyi new record signing, Crystal Palace to swoop for Gozo

The Guardian · 3 hours ago

Coventry City are advancing their newly promoted status by securing a fourth transfer record, acquiring Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi from Danish club Nordsjaelland for £23 million. The 20-year-old midfielder, who distinguished himself during Ghana's World Cup campaign including scoring against Panama, arrives as part of an aggressive summer recruitment drive exceeding £60 million that also brought in winger Loum Tchaouna, defender Aurèle Amenda, and goalkeeper Carl Rushworth.

Crystal Palace are strengthening their squad ahead of European competition by completing an £11 million transfer for American youth international Zavier Gozo from MLS side Real Salt Lake, positioning the 19-year-old right wing-back as cover following departures at the position. Manager Pierre Sage continues pursuing defensive additions including centre-backs Axel Disasi and Raphaël Le Guen whilst firmly retaining key midfielder Adam Wharton despite Chelsea's interest in the player.
