Magician Joel M performed his classic disappearing ring trick on Spice Girls stars Mel B and Emma "Baby Spice" Bunton during a Judges' Callbacks episode of America's Got Talent, leaving both women stunned. Bunton served as a special guest judge alongside her bandmate Mel B, who had brought back favourite acts for private command performances to decide who progresses to the season 21 live shows, giving the segment added novelty value for fans of the pop group.

The trick, filmed partly in Mel B's home town of Leeds, saw Joel M borrow a ring from Bunton before appearing to bury it in a haystack among other gold rings. Through a series of misdirections involving chosen words, a lemon, a walnut and one of Mel B's chicken eggs, he ultimately revealed the ring hidden inside a walnut, prompting Bunton to exclaim "You are joking me!" in disbelief. The episode aired on NBC on 4 August, with a second Callbacks round scheduled for 11 August.
