Xbox Is Planning Its Own Version of the Platinum Trophy
Microsoft is developing an Xbox equivalent of PlayStation's coveted "platinum trophy" for players who complete every achievement in a game. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed the feature is planned for later this year as part of wider updates to the achievements system, which was originally introduced with the Xbox 360 in 2005 and later inspired Sony's trophy system. The move responds to long-standing requests from the Xbox community and would mark one of the biggest changes to the achievements system in its 21-year history.
No details have been given on how the new completionist reward would look, work, or be named. It remains unclear whether it would add extra gamerscore on top of the usual 1,000-point cap most games have, or exist purely as a standalone badge of recognition, and whether it would apply retroactively to older titles or only to new releases going forward.
