Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka has confirmed that further announcements are still to come as part of Sonic the Hedgehog's 35th anniversary celebrations, though he declined to reveal any details. Speaking to Pocket Tactics, Iizuka said Sega wants the anniversary year to honour Sonic's history while also looking forward, spanning games, music, events, collaborations and merchandise, with some surprises deliberately being kept under wraps to avoid tipping off eagle-eyed fans.

Announcements made so far include a shadow-dropped Sonic Frontiers – Definitive Edition for Switch 2, two Switch compilation collections, a second season for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, ongoing free and paid DLC, various product reveals and a concert tour planned later in the year. Iizuka said he hopes the remaining reveals will appeal to fans "from every era" and urged people to keep following official channels for updates.
