New downloadable content for the Nintendo Switch game Pokémon Pokopia has confirmed that the title shares a universe with Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! & Let's Go, Eevee!. This matters because Pokopia's setting had previously been unclear, being a spin-off in which humans have vanished and Pokémon govern themselves, with only scattered lore items hinting at its connections to the mainline series.

Collectible items in the new Bubbly Basin DLC name Trace, the rival character exclusive to Let's Go, Pikachu! & Let's Go, Eevee!, as the former champion of the Kanto League, while May, the female protagonist from the Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald games, is confirmed as champion of the Hoenn region for the first time. The link was first spotted by X user rasenburst, who shared screenshots of an in-game picture-book description referencing Trace's journey. Fans had already noted similarities between Pokopia's Vermilion City and its counterpart in Let's Go, including shared textures and props, fuelling speculation that a Let's Go sequel set in Hoenn could follow, even though Johto would be the more conventional next region to visit.
